Sarah Zero’s Valentine’s Day Sex Drive 2018

Hey gang,

My health has been awful as of late. I had a very challenging January and February took a turn for the worse this Friday due to a traumatic series of events that took place in a hospital, which fed into many existing traumas. Thankfully, I’m feeling better and well enough to share something for VDSD with the help of my collaborators, Ram Lama and K.M. Claude. The year’s art features Skylark, the green-haired midget drag queen prostitute from Polska, Sucka! We’re also featuring Camello, Tsar his bodyguard gigolo, and by popular demand, Tits the bombshell chief bodyguard.

We hope you enjoy your visit this year.

The Nude Pin-Ups

Intermission by Vas

Here is a never before published bit from an unfinished Rasputin Barxotka story. The nudity is only implied, but I thought I’d share it anyway.

Want more goodies?

Check out Rasputin Barxotka (which has a pretty sweet Bonus Art section with more naked people) and Polska, Sucka! for free webcomic goodness. We hope you take a chance to check out our work and say hello. It’s a pleasure to participate in this event once again.

Happy Winter Holiday Season!

Hey gang,

Thus far, I’ve really enjoying the Holiday season this year. This is actually a new thing for me because it’s the first December I haven’t been feeling blue at all in a very long time. There’s a lot of good food being served, and lots of fun events to attend in Central Minnesota. I’ve been spending a lot of time with friends and family and not letting the winter get to me. I am also greatly looking forward to singing in choir on Christmas Eve. This is an exciting time for me, event-wise and emotionally.

The team is a little behind on the comic stuff, but we are still pressing forward. I’ve been working on streamlining the website even more, so things are easier to find. I installed a sexy new lightbox plugin that makes comic navigation even easier, as well as a sidebar menu for the webcomic sections. I’ve decluttered a lot of navigational stuff, and updated the FAQ. I also cleaned up a few dead links and took care of the caching errors we’ve been dealing with. Overall, I am delighted with how everything is going. There have also been a few comic updates:

Currently, I am taking soundboard training, thinking about taking keyboard classes, and am looking for some production training. I also switched to singing soprano in choir rather than alto to get my full mezzo soprano range back. I’m doing this all for Velvet Rasputin’s first G-rated (but still full of punk sensibility and not at all boring) musical parallax comic. It’s about a non-binary person who leaves sex, wealth and stardom behind to do something more meaningful with their life. It’s probably unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, and I am hoping that it will be out by 2020. The tentative title is Eunouchos and it should be awesome!

Here are some images showing of the progress that Claude and Ram have been making. Claude is moving along nicely with the next installment of Rasputin Barxotka’s The Serpent, entitled, “Theophany”. Ram has been busy with RaspCat and a few concept sketches for his reinterpretation of Polska, Sucka! which we are hoping will be ready for release sometime in 2019 or 2020.

Finally, I have a confession. I am developing a big fat and uncontainable art crush on Ram again. If you’ve followed the Velvet Rasputin Twitter account from the early days, you’ll know what I am talking about. Don’t worry, I am not leaving my husband, or going back to my old ways as a sex-crazed idiot. I just want to hug all of Ram’s sketches.

Let me explain an art crush: It’s not like a romantic crush. It’s more like a deep sense of excitement and wonder when you see someone’s art. You just want to know that creative mind better. That person’s art fills you with overwhelming joy and you crave for more. Maybe, it’s because I am less affected by political bullcrap. (Community involvement is the best antidote for social media polarization, I find.) Maybe, it’s because a lot things that were weighing on me are gone. It’s an amazing feeling to feel like something that was turning into a chore, become exciting again. I feel safe creatively again even if I’m not, and that has helped me rediscover what made me fall in love with Ram’s art in the same place. It’s a beautiful feeling.

Anyway, Loki is cooking up some Indian food for lunch and the aroma is driving me insane. I must go, for now, but I hope to talk with all of you really soon!

K.M. Claude at NOCAZ – Freebies and Webcomic Update!

Hello Velveties!

Before I get into the meat of this post, I’d like to announce that the webcomic version of Rasputin Barxotka is back online. Please let me know what you think!

If you are in the New Orleans Area, be sure to say hi to K.M. Claude at the New Orleans Comic And Zine Fest. Claude will be selling his latest books and floppies, and will be giving out free limited-edition Rasputin Barxotka bookmarks! NOCAZ is a free two day event which takes place at the New Orleans Public Library on November 18-19, 2017. For more information visit their website.

As for me, Loki and I are going to be taking it easy this weekend as a reward for all the hard work that went into getting the webcomic ready to go.  Have a great Thanksgiving for those who celebrate it, and happy November to those who don’t.

Birthday Stuff

Hey Velveties,

So, I’m 44 now. It’s kind of weird that I am this old when my mom wasn’t sure I would survive my teens. I’m not complaining at all. Life has been decent lately, and my birthday celebration was lovely. Mom took me out for Italian food at a fancy restaurant and gifted me with homemade chutney, applesauce and chocolate. My husband and roomies enjoyed cake and company with me tonight. I am very grateful for every blessing in my life right now.

I don’t have much to say, except that I returned another Rasputin Barxotka book online. It’s available for your reading pleasure in webcomic format, free for you. It’s my way of sharing today’s joy with you.

Now Available: The Serpent #1 + K.M. Claude at NOCAZ

The Serpent #1A smuggler indulges in a kinky liaison with a mysterious Spanish doctor. Homoerotic pleasure soon turns to stomach-churning terror when a diabolical vision of the future appears.

Claude, author of 99 Righteous Men, a story written by Vas Littlecrow Wojtanowicz and cover art by Amanda Wearstler. Get the eBook for free when you buy a print comic. Speaking of K.M. Claude, you can now meet this fabulously talented comic creator at the New Orleans Comic and Zine Fest. Release Schedule Change: “Theoria” Coming This Halloween

Out of respect for Amanda “Mandarr” Wearstler, Rasputin Catamite: Twin Freaks, will be postponed until at least December. Mandarr’s cat Mochi is missing and she’s been frantically looking for her furbaby this week. Any information about Mochi’s whereabouts would be greatly appreciated. Please refer to this Facebook post for more details.

Comics are less important than the well-being of our team members and their families, so I want to be very mindful of Mandarr’s time and emotional space, as she deal with this painful ordeal. Instead, you will see her cover art this Halloween on a collaboration between K. M. Claude and I entitled, The Serpent with its first installment, “Theoria.” It’s pretty intense and it’s rated for age 17+ audiences due to graphic depictions of adult situations and violence. It was originally slated for February 14th next year, but Claude and I agreed that we were ready to share this with our readers now in order to make up for this delay.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding.

It’s Friday the 13th!

Today is Friday the 13th, and I am rather sick. I was looking forward to doing my local 24-hour Comic Day event, instead I’m stuck here at home with the flu. I have been doodling around in my sketchbook. While doing so,  I found an old drawing that I made at Chapel Con of Irina. I am trying to post from the WordPress app so I’m not sure how it’s going to look once it’s on the website, but there you go.

On sad news, there is a possibility that the next installment of Rasputin Catamite is going to be delayed. Amanda has been frantically searching for her beloved kitty Mochi, and as a result hasn’t been able to work on the cover for now. On the bright side, the final edit requests have been sent to Ram, right on schedule.

I hope that you are all doing well today my Velveties, and that tomorrow treat you well.

Happy Coming Out Day!

Dima's Bi-VampireHello my Velveties,

Here’s a clip from May Day to help commemorate National Coming Out Day! It features Dima coming out as bisexual in a time and place in history where the the word, “bisexual” didn’t even exist in the Russian language without being a horrifyingly offensive synonym for “hermaphrodite.” These days word finally exists, but for many people, it’s still REALLY hard to come out.

As for me, my current sexual orientation is simultaneously “I don’t give a fuuuuuuck,” and “meh.” When you’re monogamously married, non-binary, and your sex drive is petering out with age, it’s really hard to pin down exactly what sexual orientation even means in this context. I suppose the most concise answer would be “queer demisexual,” but kids these days often think that the Q word is offensive, so I’ll just stick to praying, drawing and getting flogged every once in a while.

Whatever you are, do your best to be kind to yourself and be honest about who you are.
